While Californian’s lost jobs with the closing of the Coalesse furniture plant, the Texas plant will acquire 70 more employees. Coalesse is a division of Steelcase Inc. based in Michigan and had operated plants in both California and Texas.

The economic slump prompted the company to combine the two plants into one and Texas was chosen for it’s central location. The plant located in Grand Prairie will be hiring the additional employees through the month of July.

With an unemployment rate of 4.5%, the extra jobs opening at the plantĀ  is very good news for the state.
