North Carolina Loses Another Furniture Plant

North Carolina will lose another furniture plant as the Stanley Furniture Company plans to close down their Lexington location. The plant will be closed by the middle of October and will put 350 people out of work.

The company plans to create around 200 more jobs at their Robbinsville plant over the next couple of years. And, employees that are in Davidson County will be eligible to apply for those jobs when they become available.

Consumer confidence and the failing housing market have contributed to the companies decision. They do plan to keep a warehouse in Lexington that will provide around 20 jobs.
