The Social Security Administration closed it’s Port Huron, Michigan office this past week. Instead of sending all the office furniture and accessories to a landfill officials decided to donate it to several non-profit organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

According to officials from the Port Huron office about 50% of the office furniture on hand was deemed to be in good enough shape to donate.

District Manager, Dennis Crimmins said that the office was trying to deal with the disposal of the office furniture in an environmentally friendly way as well as helping those in need.
