Malaysia Slated to Plant More Trees For Furniture Production

Tan Kok Hong, a committee chairman for International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, has announced plans to plant 26,000 hectares of trees in Johor for the purpose of providing lumber for furniture manufacturers.

Malaysia is the second leading country in the production of furniture in Asia. China is recognized as the number one producer. According to Tan, China targets low quality cheap furniture, but Malaysia will focus on higher end quality products.
