Both state and local investigators are going over 70 complaints filed by customers that paid for furniture they didn’t receive. The customers paid for furniture from the now bankrupt Bassett Furniture during the companies going out of business sale. And, police say that the number of complaints continue to grow.

Another furniture store, Furnishings by Ludwig is also going out of business in the same area. Pete Jonca the owner is trying to make things right with the Bassett customers by offering them even lower discounts on his already discounted furnishings.

Jonca is slashing the discount to 5% over cost for any Bassett customers that bring in their receipt for purchases that never got honored. At least a dozen of the duped Bassett customers have gone to Ludwig’s to take advantage of the deal.

In the meantime, authorities are investigating the claims and will be doing what they can to make things right for the customers. This isn’t the first case of complaints being filed against a furniture company that’s lost the battle with today’s economy.
