Ikea Canada is making a donation of C$280,000 that was raised by it’s Bag the Bag campaign to Tree Canada, a non-profit organization which encourages Canadians to plant trees and care for them in both rural and urban environments.

In addition to the donation raised from the Bag the Bag campaign, the company will also continue to contribute a certain portion of the annual sales from their Christmas trees. The trees are available at 11 of the company’s stores throughout Canada.

“Environmental sustainability continues to be anchored in everything we do at Ikea,” said Kerri Molinaro, president of Ikea Canada. “It is clear that our customers take great pride in supporting Ikea Canada’s commitment to responsible retailing.”

The Bag the Bag campaign is geared toward elimination the use of plastic bags at all Ikea stores. Funds from the campaign are to be re-invested into the annual partnership with Tree Canada’s Pick a Tree Plant a Tree. So far, the program has helped plant over 14,000 trees.
