Mark Richmond from The Furniture Warehouse has been honored with the 2010 Distinguished Retailer of the Year award that is given by the Florida Home Furnishings Representatives Association. Since opening in 1985, The Furniture Warehouse has expanded to four locations in Sarasota, Port Charlotte, Venice and Bradenton Florida.

The association will be honoring Richmond this year at an industry event, but the date nor location has been set. The award is recognition for outstanding contributions to the industry through management expertise, hard work, skills and loyalty. It is only awarded when the association believes that a retailer has made a significant enhancement or influenced the industry and has only been awarded 10 times since 1981.

“Mark Richmond changed his business model so his business could excel through the downturn in the economy,” said Eddie Gonzalez, FHFRA president. Richmond said that the company is very proud to receive the award. He stated that through the downturn in the industry, they focused on the company mission of providing customers with the best values.
