The Conference Board has reported that the Consumer Confidence Index rose from 48.7 in October to 49.5 in November. While opinions remained virtually unchanged about the current economy resulting in the Present Situation Index dropping from 21.1 to 21.9 and the Expectations Index rose just slightly.

Although the gain in consumer confidence is a boost to the industry, the Present Situation Index has reached levels that haven’t been seen in 26 years. The moderate increase projects a decrease in the percentage of consumers that have expected the labor and business market to become even worse.
