Cochrane Furniture To Close In November

Posted by MCC on October 4th, 2008 at 04:39am

More bad news for North Carolina as Cochrane Furniture in Lincoln county just announced that it would be shutting it’s doors for good on November 29th. The company is one of Lincoln counties largest employers with almost 200 people working at the factory.

Manufacturing is the biggest industry in the county and the loss of the Chocrane factory will be the last of the furniture makers in the area. The company plans to keep the distribution and warehouse facility open for the first part of next year, but by summer even those facilities will be gone.

Chromcraft Revington Inc. the factories parent company informed employees that the Lincoln company was no longer making a profit. Unlike some shutdowns that have left employees with no other recourse, Cochrane employees have been offered the option of receiving paid schooling to learn other trades.
