90 Year Old Furniture Chain Files Bankruptcy

Next in a long list of furniture stores that haven’t been able to compete with the slumping economy is McMahan’s Furniture and Appliances in California. The furniture store chain has been in business for almost 90 years has had no choice but to file for bankruptcy.

Over the years the company has managed to always bounce back when the economy hasn’t been good. But, the recent slow sales period started late in 2006 and hasn’t seemed to let up for the business.

The Woodland store will be the first in the chain of 15 stores across the west coast to close it’s doors. Website sales have already been stopped and sometime within the next several months the store will lock up for the last time!
