75 More Jobs Lost With Another Factory Closing

After being in business for 57 years, Orleans Furniture Inc. recently shutdown their domestic production department. The facility made entertainment centers, curio cabinets and bedroom suites. But, Magnolia classic, the company’s import line which employs about 25 people will remain operational.

“It’s something that you hate to do,” said Ed Marshall, Orleans chief executive officer and president. “But the furniture industry in the United States has really been suffering the past two years or so. We run parallel with the housing industry,” Marshall said. “If people aren’t building houses, then there’s not as much need for furniture, too.”
