Copeland Furniture was awarded the second annual Sage Award at the AHFA’s second Sustainability Summit that was held last week. The event is sponsored by the American Home Furnishings Alliance and Cargill BioH Polyols. The award recognizes excellent sustainable practices in the home furnishings business.
For year, Copeland has manufactured case goods using wood that has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Copeland’s use of certified wood has aided in the company receiving Silver Exemplary Status which is given from the Sustainable Furnishings Council, of which Copeland is a founding member.
The company has eight product groupings that qualify for FSC certification and sources a majority of the wood they use within 500 miles of the plant located in Vermont. Hickory Chair was honored with the first Sage Award last year.
