Employees Have Mixed Feelings About Telecommuting

August 12th, 2008 at 12:58pm Under The Office

The number of home offices has greatly increased over the last few years. But, even though around 46% of companies now give their employees the option of telecommuting, only about 32% actually take advantage of being able to do their jobs from home.

In a recent survey done by Steelcase, they found that many employees were both for and against working from home. While many employees feel that when companies offer them the choice it boosts office morale and gives them an advantage, many also fear that it could hurt their careers.

Many employees think that even though they have the option of telecommuting, employers would rather have them in the office doing their jobs. Being in the office gives them better control over the employees work and productivity.

Some workers basically feel that employers may feel that they don’t have real dedication to their jobs if they choose to work from home. Even though they have the option, they choose not to telecommute because they worry about being passed over for promotions.

Make The Most of Unused Office Space

August 11th, 2008 at 10:49pm Under Computer Stations

With the cost of office space escalating like everything else these days, you can’t always have as large an office as you need or want. So, space is of the utmost importance when choosing office furniture.

Wall mounted computer stations are one way of taking advantage of unused wall space and clearing up floor space. They can be mounted on almost any wall and provide convenience, extra space and even add ergonomics to your computer.

Wall mounted stations allow each employee to adjust the monitor and keyboard to fit to their height and comfort zone. They’re great for laptops, but if you have a regular computer system all you have to do is add a wall mounted CPU holder.

Add Office Privacy With Modesty Panels

August 2nd, 2008 at 08:19pm Under Furniture Accessories

You may not be able to give each of your employees their own private office, but you can give them a little sense of privacy. When you add modesty panels to your desks, it gives your staff some privacy while sitting.

An open desk may not be as much of a concern to men as it is to women. But, especially if your business is a dressier workplace, modesty panels can be a big advantage to women wearing skirts and dresses.

They can easily be added to almost any desk and will also make your office look neater. Modesty panels can hide CPU’s, wires, file boxes or any other item that may be under a desk.

And, when employees are more at ease, they can concentrate more on their work!
