With the rising number if telecommuters and home business owners home offices are essential to many people.
There are several things you can do to make your home office both comfortable and functional. If you do not have an entire room that you can devote to an office you may want to consider adding some sort of barrier around your office area. This will help prevent distractions and give you the feel of a private office.
No two people will setup their home office in exactly the same way. We all have different needs in hardware and furniture and preferences for colors and decor. When you set up your own home office you can be free to do it the way you like and are most comfortable with.”
Remember, the more comfortable and content a worker is the better their work will be.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the leading work related injuries. This can be especially true in an office where people spend long hours at their desks.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused, basically, by poor posture. To minimize the risk of being affected with this condition; just think ergonomics.
Ergonomics is really just about comfort. The more comfortable a person is the better they will be able to work and the less stress they will feel.
Additionally, to reduce the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome injuries workers should take occasional breaks. A combination of good sense ergonomics and scheduled breaks is the best way to avoid carpal tunnel injuries in your office.

Long ago office furniture usually consisted of a standard desk or table, perhaps a bookshelf or two and a set of filing cabinets. With today’s technology however, the office environment has changed a great deal.
Today’s office desks are designed especially to accommodate a computer system. There are also lots of peripherals to consider, such as a printer, scanner, copier and a fax machine. Features like a monitor arm, keyboard tray and a CPU holder are essentials.
Every business is always looking for short cuts and ways to save on expenses. However, you shouldn’t sacrifice usability and features in your office furniture. Your office furniture is an investment, both in your company and your staff. The right furniture can make a tremendous difference in the morale and productivity of you and your staff.

One of the most important pieces of furniture in your office is the chair. The office chair is more than just a piece of furniture, it is like an extension of you and your staff.
The chair you sit in determines to a great deal how comfortable and satisfied you are with your job. After all, an uncomfortable worker can’t feel at ease while they complete their duties - and this will lower their morale and productivity.
Versa Tables manufacturers office chairs with ergonomics and comfort in mind. Be sure that the chairs in your office are height adjustable and that they provide proper lumbar support. Your staff will thank you and they will do a much better job.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the cubicle to the office.
The concept of using upright panels to create separate work stations for individual workers was introduced by furniture designer Robert Propst.
One advantage of using cubicles is the extra added wall space, or surface area. The panels can be used for shelves, memo boards, calendars, and more.
Before the introduction of the cubicle offices generally consisted of rows of desks with each person being limited to the area available on their own desktop.
Opinions vary as to whether the cubicle or an open office environment are better, but in the end it all depends upon the needs of each individual office.

A Hooker Furniture plant in Martinsville, Virginia was damaged by a fire on Thursday.
A crew was disassembling some equipment so that it could be removed when sparks from a grinder ignited a fire. Workers were using the grinder to remove bolts when some of the sparks landed on some flammable residue on some spray booths.
The workers attempted to extinguish the fire themselves, but when they saw that the fire was getting out of hand they called the firefighters in to take care of it. Fortunately the damage caused by the fire was minimal.
