A positive, professional image can mean a lot to any business. If you want your office to project the proper image to your visitors and potential clients it doesn’t happen by accident. However, with a little planning and attention your office can impress those visitors with a feeling if confidence in you and your company.
The first thing most visitors will notice is your office furniture. If your office is furnished with up-to-date, quality furniture it will leave a positive impression in the minds of your visitors about your company.
Other considerations are good organization and a clutter free work area. Don’t let that first impression be anything, but the best it can be.

The Social Security Administration closed it’s Port Huron, Michigan office this past week. Instead of sending all the office furniture and accessories to a landfill officials decided to donate it to several non-profit organizations like Habitat for Humanity.
According to officials from the Port Huron office about 50% of the office furniture on hand was deemed to be in good enough shape to donate.
District Manager, Dennis Crimmins said that the office was trying to deal with the disposal of the office furniture in an environmentally friendly way as well as helping those in need.

A study was done among American office workers to find out what bothered them the most about their jobs. Two of the biggest complaints among the office workers was the temperature and uncomfortable furniture.
Respondents to the survey said that the temperature varies from location to location in their office. This means that sometimes they are too cold while other times they are too warm.
Many of the respondents also said that the chairs they had to work in were uncomfortable and led to aches and stress.
How is the heating and cooling in your office? Are the chairs provided for your staff comfortable? If you want your staff to be content these are two important areas you need to check. The importance of comfortable ergonomic chairs cannot be underestimated.

Ashley Furniture, of Arizona, has entered into an agreement with the state to pay $400,000 as a result of their delivery practices and deceptive advertising methods.
Ashley Furniture will also be paying $2,000 in restitutions and as much as $8,000 in refunds to consumers who suffered losses due to their practices.
The Arizona furniture company will be changing the way it sales and delivers furniture as well as the methods that it uses to advertise it’s products and services.

Edelstein’s Better Furniture has been in operation in the Brownsville, Texas area since 1906.
This past Monday it has been announced that the furniture company is being sold to Famsa, Incorporated the U.S. division of a Mexico based company. The transfer of ownership is expected to be finalized by February 1, 2008.
Famsa has promised to keep most of the current employees, however they do plan on replacing all office staff positions.
The furniture company was founded by Morris Edelstein, an immigrant from Lithuania who sold his furniture products door to door.

There are several different things that can be done to make your office area more neat and organized. One of the most effective things you can do is to provide adequate desks and tables for you and your staff. Shelves and cabinets should be available to keep supplies and paperwork organized.

Lloyds TSB conducted a survey of office workers to find out how a messy workplace affects those who work there.
An astounding 20% of those people who were polled indicated that excessive office clutter actually causes them stress and makes their job more difficult to perform. The same proportion of respondents to the poll stated that they were considering leaving their job because of clutter and disorganization.
There are a lot of things you can do to improve the morale and productivity among your staff. Providing a neat, clutter free work environment is not only a good idea, it is essential for the success of your business.

Recently many people lost a lot of their possessions and property in a devastating flood in White County Indiana.
Carol Hendress, an executive officer of the White County Association of Realtors has asked for donations of furniture to be given to area flood victims.
Hendress says the actions of the White County Association of Realtors is intended as a community service. She says that the furniture distribution has been a great success, but the association is still looking for more donations.

Before you make that important decision about which office chair to buy you should understand what is meant by the term ‘ergonomics’ when referring to furniture.
Proper posture and lumbar support when sitting in a chair, especially for extended periods of time, is very important to the users overall health and wellness. In other words the right chair can make a significant difference in the health, morale and productivity of your staff. An ergonomically designed chair will provide the best in support and comfort.
When a person is sore and aching it is very difficult for them to concentrate on their tasks and do a good job. Don’t let this happen in your office. Always use ergonomic chairs.

Reports have shown that the amount of furniture imported into the United States has declined for the past two years. During the same time period furniture exported from the U.S. has increased.
The data was compiled and released by PIERS Global Intelligence Solutions. The PIERS group also predicted that the export of furniture from the U.S. will increase by about three percent per year.
Countries at the top of the list for receiving U.S. manufactured furniture imports include Japan, The United Kingdom and China.
